Fewer Middle Schools In Redwood Shores Possible

The Belmont-Redwood Shores School District is considering reducing the number of middle school choices. There are currently three middle school programs. Ralston school has a comprehensive sixth through eigth grade education and has 1,099 students enrolled in the 2025-26 school year. Both Sandpiper and Nesbit have kindergarten through eighth grade instruction. Sandpiper has 123 students with 45 vacancies. Nesbit has 135 students with 33 vacancies. The district predicts there will be 290 fewer students in the next six years.Choices under consideration include keeping Ralston open as the comprehensive option and one of the other two schools as a smaller alternative. The second choice would be to keep two schools open and balance the enrollment between them.In the 2024-25 school year, 40% of all English language learner middle school students in the district attended Nesbit.More information about Silicon Valley schools is available.

Do School Ratings Affect House Price Appreciation?

School ratings do affect house prices, but they do not appear to affect the appreciation rate.If you carefully compare adjacent cities, one with highly rated schools and one without highly rated schools, you will almost always see that the house prices in the city with the highly rated schools will be higher. However, if you look at the prices over time, the appreciation rate tracks between the two schools. An example of this is Cupertino vs. San Jose. Cupertino is well known for its highly rated schools. San Jose schools vary by neighborhood, but are not as uniformly as highly rated as Cupertino schools. View more examples and information about Silicon Valley schools.
